Bran 179
Bran 179
Bran 179 (BBWo179 and GN 08.43.3) is a small reflection nebula around the two stars at the center of this image. The illuminating stars are located approximately 1,750 light-years away in
HMSTG240 (Dobashi 5668) is the dark nebula above and to the right of Bran 179.
* d Car (HIP 42568 and numerous other designations) is the magnitude 4.3V star above center at the right.
Most of the dust in this image has designations in the Planck Galactic Cold Clump (PGCC) catalog - https://www.aanda.org/articles/aa/pdf/2016/10/aa25819-15.pdf.
Luminance – 13x600s – 130 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 6:5:6x300s – 30:25:30 minutes each – binned 1x1
215 minutes total exposure – 3 hours 35 minutes
