Masking is a mystery to some people when processing their astrophotos. It doesn’t have to be. I must admit, I am not a big fan of the masking tools in PixInsight.
Telescope Live has quite a bit of data from SPA-1, SPA-3,. and AUS-2. They are all Takahashi FSQ 106 setups that have been reduced to 380mm focal length, I imagine using the matched Takahashi .73 reducer for that scope.
Many of our members on this Telescope Live Page, including me, like to share images we’ve processed with all of our members, not just to show work we’re particularly proud of but also to show what can be done with Telesco
The European Space Agency’s Gaia mission has released its third data set, creating ‘the most accurate and complete multi-dimensional map of the Milky Way yet’ along with quite a few interesting discoveries being made by a
In late May, a collaborative study, led by Kailash Suhu, was published claiming that they had managed to identify the first ever isolated black hole, identified by shorthand as OB11046.
I have been fascinated by the night sky since I ‘discovered’ Saturn with my 60mm refractor at the age of 10. An APOD-winning astrophotographer, I have been published in Sky & Telescope, Astronomy Magazine, and Space.com. As a NASA Solar System Ambassador, I have conducted thousands of public outreach programs and am a registered cruise ship speaker on astronomy and space science, as well as a Director of the Phoenix Astronomical Society. I frequently post astrophotography images, news, and tutorials on social media. My solar imaging and videos are particularly popular, and I have conducted extensive research on solar cameras and solar image processing techniques.
