I have been fascinated by the night sky since I ‘discovered’ Saturn with my 60mm refractor at the age of 10. An APOD-winning astrophotographer, I have been published in Sky & Telescope, Astronomy Magazine, and Space.com. As a NASA Solar System Ambassador, I have conducted thousands of public outreach programs and am a registered cruise ship speaker on astronomy and space science, as well as a Director of the Phoenix Astronomical Society. I frequently post astrophotography images, news, and tutorials on social media. My solar imaging and videos are particularly popular, and I have conducted extensive research on solar cameras and solar image processing techniques.

StarXTerminator Workflow

StarXTerminator is a useful plugin created by Russell Croman that, using AI, allows you to remove the stars entirely from an image. This is useful for nebula processing when you want to isolate the nebula along. James Ritson from Affinity will show you how you install and configure this plugin for Affinity Photo, and how you go about using it with non-destructible layers to better process nebulae targets in Affinity Photo.

Stacking Telescope Live Data

Affinity photo has the ability to load and stack Telescope Live data from multiple one-click observations. James will show you how using the file groups feature in the astrophotography stack tool, you can load multiple one-click observations of the same target acquired over several nights and improve your astrophotography stack. James will also cover some essential colour calibration once you have your master frames.
